Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a youth has been allegedly killed in a road accident after being hit by a Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) vehicle at Hatigaon in Guwahati on Monday.
The incident took place in the Hatigaon locality of Guwahati today.
According to reports, the accident involved a GMC garbage pickup truck.
Reportedly, the youth died on the spot after being hit by the over speeding vehicle.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Teertha Pratim Deka, a resident Narengi area in Guwahati.
Deka worked as a salesperson for KIA Motors. He had previously worked for Hyundai Motors.
However, Police officials arrived at the spot and recovered the body of the deceased. It has been sent for post-mortem to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The GMC that was involved in the collision had registration numbers AS 01 DO 4362.
Following the accident, angry locals have shut the Hatigaon-Bhetapara road in the meantime.
