Hajo Rurban Cluster inspected by Union Minister Kulaste
Kamrup: Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development, Government of India, Faggan Singh Kulaste arrived at Kamrup district to visit rural development works.
Ahead of the field visit, the minister was warmly welcomed by the Kamrup district administration and Hajo Development Block. A meeting was also held in the office Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup on the occasion.
In the meeting organized in the presence of Assam Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass and senior officials of the department as well as officials of the district administration, Nandita Saharia, Block Development Officer of Hajo briefed about the schemes implemented in the Hajo Cluster under
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee RURBAN Mission. A short documentary was also presented highlighting the progress of the schemes implemented in the Hajo Cluster under the RURBAN Mission.
In the context of his speech, the Union Minister expressed satisfaction over the steps taken for the development of pisciculture, horticulture, and small brass industries, etc. Assam will be able to show remarkable performance in rural development in near future, he said. Further, he also mentioned that women and youths of Assam will be able to be self-reliant with the help of the Central Government. The government’s measures to boost interest in local goods will also gain momentum through this and will be particularly helpful in achieving India’s goal of self-reliance i.e. Atma Nirbhar Bharat. The Minister also emphasized the sustainment of these activities. Sri Kulaste also urged the officials of the P & RD Department to visit other states as and when required to know about their functioning.
P & RD Minister of Assam Ranjeet Kr Dass also addressed the meeting and expressed satisfaction over the initiatives taken by the department in the Hajo RURBAN Cluster.
After the meeting, the Union Minister accompanied by State Minister Dass and others went for a field visit and formally inaugurated the Citizen Service Centre set up at Kulhati Panchgaon Gaon Panchayat and interacted with the self-help groups. Besides, he also interacted with the beneficiaries from various sectors benefited under the RURBAN Mission, such as Fish farmer, beneficiaries having small rice mills, etc. and took stock of their activities.
Minister Kulaste also inspected the water supply scheme adopted under the Mission, houses under PMAY-G, incense making projects of Self Help Group, and scheme under Pradhan Mantri Gram Charak Yojana and expressed satisfaction over these rural development works.
