Guwahati: In a shocking incident, body of a woman was recovered half-naked in Nagaon district of Assam on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the deceased was found half-naked in the bush behind her home, a rope around her neck in Samaguri.
Reportedly, she was a widow with two children, and the locals claimed that a man named Mridul Bora raped and killed her.
They claimed that Mridul had often harassed the deceased and they saw him go to her residence on Wednesday.
She had been missing since Wednesday night and despite extensive searches, nothing had turned up.
The body was recovered after the police and magistrate arrived at the scene.
Meanwhile, police officials have launched an investigation into the matter.
