Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar Resigns Amid Coalition Rift

National Desk, 12th March: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, along with his cabinet ministers, has tendered his resignation, signaling a significant development in the state’s political landscape.

Reports suggest that a new Chief Minister will be sworn in later today, marking the end of Khattar’s tenure.

The resignation comes amid a brewing rift within the ruling coalition comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), particularly in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Haryana. Sources indicate that Khattar’s decision to step down followed mounting tensions within the coalition.

The strained relations between the BJP and the JJP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, stem from their inability to reach a consensus on seat-sharing arrangements for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. The failure to secure a mutual agreement has exacerbated the discord between the two parties.

Notably, all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana were secured by the BJP during the 2019 elections, underscoring the significance of the coalition’s internal dynamics as the state prepares for the upcoming electoral contest.
