Heavy Rain Predicted Across Northeast In Coming Days
Guwahati: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday informed of likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls occurred in the coming days of Northeast.
According to IMD, the north-eastern states should expect widespread to moderate showers.
Apart from isolated heavy showers in the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm, lightning and thunderstorms are expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 23, 26 and 27.
Additionally, IMD forecasted that Arunachal Pradesh would likely experience heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday.
A yellow alert was also issued by the weather service for Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday for the entire Northeast.
Additionally, a warning has been released to caution locals to “be alert” of the weather conditions.
The Weather Channel reports that despite the anticipated precipitation, daytime temperatures in the Northeast are likely to stay above average.
It should be mentioned that while the Northeast experienced tremendous rains during the pre-monsoon, the amount of rain so far this monsoon season has been below average.
