Heroin worth Rs 1 crore 22 lakhs seized in Assam’s Silchar

Guwahati, 28th February: Law enforcement authorities in Assam’s Silchar, achieved a major milestone with the successful seizure of heroin valued at approximately 1 crore 22 lakhs.

The illicit substance was confiscated from suspects Azad Majumdar and Rahul Amin Majumdar, residents of Arunachal in Cassar, who are accused of involvement in smuggling activities.

The operation unfolded when police intercepted a TATA HARRIER vehicle, leading to the discovery of approximately 175 grams of heroin concealed within 15 soap boxes.

The immediate action resulted in the immediate arrest of Azad Majumdar and Rahul Amin Majumdar, marking a substantial breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.

As authorities continue their investigations into the origin and destination of the seized contraband, the arrested individuals remain in custody.
