Guwahati: In a successful operation against the war on drugs, a massive quantity of narcotic substances has been seized from Karimganj district of Assam on Tuesday.
Based on specific information, Karimganj police had conducted a search operation at Nagara of the district.
During the operation, officials intercepted a Mahindra Thar vehicle which was entering the state from neighbouring Mizoram.
On checking the vehicle, officials recovered narcotics concealed in 194 soap boxes.
The entire consignment is estimated to be worth over Rs 20 crores in the international markets.
Moreover, two people were arrested by police officials in connection to the seizure.
The arrestees identified as Jabrul Haque and Rizal Uddin Talukdar.
Further investigation into the entire case is underway.
