High-Level Meeting With SPs Chaired By Assam CM Concludes After 14 Hours

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presided over a high-level conference with the superintendents of police that ended on Wednesday.

Several significant issues were covered during a lengthy meeting presided over by the Assam CM.

According to sources, CM Sarma discussed and inquired about each police station’s errors in cases.

He also inquired about the Assam Police’s efforts to combat the drug problem in the state.

Meanwhile, another such brainstorming session will be organised after six months. He stated that the location of the following meeting would be Bongaigaon, Assam.

The Director General of Police (DGP) in Assam, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, spoke to the media at the conclusion of the meeting.

He reiterated the Assam Police’s policy on drinking while on duty in his speech. He asserted that Assam Police has consistently resisted such flagrant violations of the law.

According to DGP Mahanta, “All police employees who are intoxicated while on duty shall be promptly terminated from service.”

It should be mentioned that on Wednesday at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, CM Sarma presided over a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs).

Discussions in the meeting focused on implementing various welfare programmes, maintaining peace and order, and effective government.

Mission Basundhara 2.0 and Mission Bhumiputra were discussed in the high-level meeting today.

Speaking to media persons after the meet, CM Sarma said, “Work related to the acceleration of Mission Basundhara 2.0 will start from mid-November. This decision has been taken in regard to the Deori Autonomous Council elections. The work was slated to begin on November 6.”                        

“In Majuli, all of the work for Mission Bhumiputra has been completed. 70 to 80 percent of the work has been finished in other Assam districts,” the chief minister added.

A special emphasis was placed on the festivities scheduled for Lachit Barphukan’s 400th birthday celebrations in addition to these debates.
