Hima Das fails to make it to final in CWG22

Guwahati: Hima Das of India, who was a medal contender in the 200-meter women’s race at the Commonwealth Games, withdrew after an abject failure that prevented her from even making the final.

In the final pool of 24 competitors, she finished 10th in the semi-final that was held last night at midnight (Indian time). Today’s game will be the championship.

Hima was unable to beat the timing of 23.42 seconds she demonstrated in the heats, and Jamaica’s Elaine THOMPSON-HERAH took first place.

Shiv Thapa, Lovlina Borgohain, and now Hima das performed poorly in their respective categories, putting an end to Assam’s hopes of honouring the nation. Only Nayanmoni Saikia rescued face by being a part of the Women’s Lawn Ball gold winning team.
