Himanta Biswa Sarma Commends Peaceful Assam Elections, Shares Vision for Progressive India
Guwahati, 7th May: Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his reflections after casting his vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in the state. He commended the smooth conduct of the electoral process, highlighting the significant voter turnout recorded in the first two phases.
“Today is the last day of the Assam (Lok Sabha) elections. We have completed it peacefully,” Sarma remarked, expressing gratitude to the people of Assam for their participation in the democratic process. He emphasized the importance of peaceful voting and expressed confidence in the electorate’s support for a progressive India.
“We recorded almost 80% voter turnout in the first two phases. I thank the whole of Assam for peaceful voting,” Sarma added, underlining the high level of civic engagement witnessed during the elections.
Looking ahead, Sarma shared his optimism about the future, stating, “I am sure that the people of Assam will support a Bharat that will become Vishwa Guru and achieve the goals in ‘Amrit Kaal’.” His words reflect a vision of an influential and prosperous India, resonating with the aspirations of the electorate.
Addressing remarks made by RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav regarding reservation policies, Sarma commented, “This was an allegation from the beginning that Congress and INDI alliance want to make reservations to ensure backdoor entry for Muslims. Today Lalu Yadav’s statement has vindicated our apprehension.”
