Guwahati, 21th December: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma demonstrated a commendable effort to enhance road safety during the winter season by personally joining traffic police officials in night patrols on December 20. His focus was on preventing untoward road mishaps, particularly those related to driving under the influence of alcohol, which had contributed to fatalities earlier in the year.

The Chief Minister’s hands-on approach and presence on the streets throughout the night underscored his commitment to public safety. Together with the efforts of the Guwahati Police, this initiative proved successful, as there were no reported deaths resulting from drunken driving that night. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s proactive stance and the positive outcome were well-received by the public, who affectionately refer to him as “mama.”
