Historic 4G Connectivity Launched in Arunachal Pradesh’s Remote Pipsorang Circle

Arunachal Pradesh: In a historic move to bridge the digital divide in remote regions, the Pipsorang Circle of Arunachal Pradesh’s KraDAadi District, situated near the Indo-China border, has been connected to 4G mobile services for the first time since India’s Independence. This milestone was achieved with the activation of 4G Airtel connectivity in Nyobia and 11 other villages within the Pipsorang Circle.

The occasion was marked by a live video call from Jike Tako, Advisor to the Power Minister and MLA of the Tali Assembly Constituency, to Chief Minister Pema Khandu. During the call, Chief Minister Khandu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the villagers, village headmen (GBs), and Deputy Commissioner Sunny Singh for their patience and perseverance in achieving this significant milestone. He emphasized the importance of improved connectivity in enhancing the region’s overall development.

This initiative is part of a broader effort launched by the central government to enhance connectivity in border areas. As part of this project, a total of 254 4G mobile towers have been installed, improving network coverage in 336 border locations across Arunachal Pradesh, particularly along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. The project includes the installation of 2,605 4G towers, which will serve 3,712 villages statewide. Notably, approximately 70% of these towers have already been erected, providing critical connectivity to previously underserved areas.

Chief Minister Khandu highlighted that this achievement underscores the government’s commitment, under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to ensure inclusive and equitable development for all regions and tribes in Arunachal Pradesh. He reiterated the significance of such initiatives in driving progress, particularly in remote and strategically important areas.
