Historic Achievement: Manipur Students Excel in Class 10 Examinations

Northeast Desk, 28th May: Manipur celebrates a historic milestone as the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, announces a remarkable pass percentage of over 93% in the Class 10 examinations. Despite the backdrop of ethnic tensions, the academic prowess of Manipur’s youth shines brightly, offering a beacon of hope for the state’s future.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to social media platform X to commend the unwavering determination of the state’s students, hailing their triumph over adversities. Singh expressed pride in the students’ achievements, stating, “Our hardworking students have excelled despite various challenges, bringing smiles and hope to the state.” He reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education for students amidst challenging circumstances.

This achievement comes amidst a tumultuous academic year marked by ethnic tensions, which displaced many students, forcing them to seek refuge in relief camps. In contrast to previous years’ pass percentages of 76% in 2022 and 82.82% in 2023, this year’s performance marks a significant leap forward.

Officials attribute the surge in pass percentage to the transition from the marks system to the grading system, aimed at reducing stress and fostering a conducive learning environment. Under the new grading system, students received grades ranging from A1 to E2, shifting the focus away from total marks.

The examinations, conducted from March 15 to April 3, saw the participation of 37,547 students, comprising 18,995 male and 18,552 female students. This historic achievement underscores the resilience and academic excellence of Manipur’s youth, paving the way for a brighter future.
