Historic Candidacy: Pakistani Hindu files nomination for 2024 general elections in Buner District

International Desk, 26th December: In a historic move, Dr. Saveera Parkash, a Pakistani Hindu and 2022 graduate of Abbottabad International Medical College, has filed her nomination papers for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024. Affiliated with the PPP women’s wing, Dr. Parkash seeks to represent the Buner district in the National Assembly.

Her candidacy is a landmark moment, making her the first minority candidate to vie for a general seat in the Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This milestone signifies a crucial step toward inclusivity and diversity in Pakistani politics, promoting minority representation at the national level.

Dr. Saveera Parkash, also the general secretary of the PPP women’s wing in Buner, articulated her dedication to community welfare and outlined her commitment to advancing women’s rights and fostering a secure environment. She highlighted historical neglect and suppression of women in the development sector and, if elected, pledged to address these concerns.
