Hockey World Cup Trophy Arrives In Guwahati

Guwahati: The Hockey World Cup trophy landed in Guwahati on Thursday as part of a trip that began in Odisha.

India will host the 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup from January 13–29 of that year.

Odisha will host the world cup, and the state’s chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the trophy tour on Monday in Bhubaneshwar.

The trophy was displayed at Ganesh Mandir Stadium after it arrived in Guwahati.

The world cup trophy will be welcomed by the state’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The trophy will remain on public display in the city for one day before being sent to Jharkhand.

The trophy was stored yesterday at Imphal in Manipur for a day before being brought to Guwahati as part of the journey.

It should be noted that Assam is one of the 13 states and one union territory that the trophy will be travelling to. The only two northeastern locations for the trophy trip where it was retained for a day were Manipur and Assam.
