Holding Numbers Have Not Been Connected to APDCL by Residents: GMC
Guwahati: Guwahati Municipal Corporation on Friday said that many residents have not connected their holding number to their APDCL customer number.
The GMC Commissioner stated at a press conference that “many residents still haven’t taken holding numbers. The holding number should be connected to the APDCL customer number although many residents of the city have yet to do so.”
He added that an app will make it simpler for Guwahati residents to pay taxes because GMC workers have a history of harassing people in the name of collecting taxes.
Moreover, GMC has provided a 50% tax payment option for individuals who initially owing Rs. 250 crore.
Everyone has been ordered by GMC to pay taxes for the last three years and they will receive a 50% tax exemption.
Furthermore, it stated that people who haven’t paid taxes in 10 to 15 years are also subject to 50% tax.
Only 50,000 consumers have so far linked holding numbers with APDCL, and in the past six months, GMC has collected Rs. 63 crores.
Meanwhile, 180 centres will open to receive holding numbers.
The commissioner said, “Electricity connection will be cut off if holding number is not connected. GMC is tough on tax collection.”
