Home Minister Amit Shah to campaign in Manipur today
Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Manipur on Wednesday for a one-day visit to join the BJP’s electoral campaign for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
The Union Home Minister is scheduled to address a public rally in Churachandpur at 2.10 p.m. and a door-to-door campaign at 2.40 p.m. during his visit to the poll-bound state.
According to party sources, the Union Home Minister would travel from Churachandpur to Kangpoki for a public rally at 4 p.m. and then to Bhamon Leikai in Imphal East for a door-to-door campaign at 5.40 p.m.
Shah will later have a meeting with BJP leaders.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Benjamin Mate said Shah’s visit will be a morale booster for the party while calling it a “historic and big event”.
The second phase of polling in Manipur is scheduled for March 5 and the counting of votes on March 10.
