Honeymoon Horror: Minister Hek Calls Sohra Murder ‘Pre-Planned’ by Wife

Shillong: Meghalaya Cabinet Minister Alexander Laloo Hek today unequivocally labelled the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in Sohra as a “pre-planned and organised” crime, directly pointing the finger at the victim’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi. The shocking details surrounding the alleged honeymoon homicide continue to unfold, with Hek’s statements adding significant weight to the prosecution’s case.

Addressing the media, Minister Hek highlighted crucial evidence unearthed by the diligent Meghalaya Police. “I saw the news that Meghalaya Police recovered a mangalsutra and a ring from Sonam’s suitcase left at the homestay. I believe this is a very vital clue,” he stated, underscoring the importance of these findings in connecting Sonam to the crime. He reiterated the collective sentiment of the state, asserting, “The government and people of Meghalaya want strict legal punishment for the accused.”

The Minister was effusive in his praise for the Meghalaya Police, whose swift and effective investigation led to the apprehension of Sonam, her alleged paramour Raj Kushwaha, and three contract killers. Their rapid response brought a measure of clarity to a case that initially left many bewildered and outraged.

“I congratulate the police for doing an important job,” Hek expressed, acknowledging the exemplary work done by the force. He also extended his deepest condolences to the grieving family of Raja Raghuvanshi. “I also express my condolences to Raja Raghuvanshi’s family, who were understandably furious after learning their son was murdered here,” he shared. The initial anger directed towards the people and police of Meghalaya has since dissipated, a relief for the state. “Initially, they blamed the people and police of Meghalaya—but we are relieved that they have now apologised,” Hek concluded, noting the shift in the family’s stance following the arrests.

The chilling murder, which gripped both Meghalaya and the entire nation, reached a critical juncture when Sonam resurfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur and surrendered to authorities, with police alleging she masterminded the horrific killing during her honeymoon with the aid of her boyfriend and hired assassins.
