Hornbill Festival: A Record-Breaking Year

The 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival, Nagaland’s annual cultural extravaganza, has concluded with a record-breaking number of visitors. Over 1.73 lakh people, including 2,375 international tourists, flocked to the picturesque Naga heritage village of Kisama to witness the 10-day cultural extravaganza.

This year’s festival surpassed the previous year’s footfall of 1.54 lakh visitors. The peak day of the festival saw a staggering 26,274 visitors, while the lowest turnout was recorded on the fourth day with 14,502 attendees.

The festival showcased the rich cultural diversity of Nagaland’s 18 tribes through captivating performances, traditional games, exotic cuisine, and the vibrant Hornbill International Music Festival. Visitors from around the world were enthralled by the colorful displays of indigenous culture and heritage.

While most visitors expressed immense appreciation for the festival’s cultural performances and warm hospitality, some offered constructive feedback. A few visitors suggested reconsidering the design of the festival pavilions, as some structures obstructed the view of traditional Naga huts.

As the 25th Hornbill Festival draws to a close, it leaves behind a legacy of cultural exchange, tourism promotion, and a lasting impression on visitors from around the globe.
