Hornbill Festival of Nagaland Attracts Over 1.54 Lakh Visitors, Reflecting Growing Cultural Tourism
Northeast Desk, 15th December: The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, a vibrant showcase of the state’s cultural diversity, has achieved remarkable success by drawing an impressive crowd of over 1.54 lakh visitors this year.
The ten-day festival, a significant tourism promotional event for the Nagaland government, witnessed a surge in overall footfall, with an additional 13,758 tourists compared to the previous year. The attendees comprised 1,14,860 local visitors, 37,089 domestic tourists, and 2,108 foreign guests.
The festival’s international presence doubled from the previous year, reflecting a growing global interest in Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage. Despite a slight dip in domestic tourist numbers, the festival’s success highlights Nagaland’s potential as a cultural tourism hotspot, attracting visitors eager to experience the state’s unique traditions and ethnic diversity.
The Hornbill Festival, celebrated in Kisama, showcased a vibrant mix of dances, performances, crafts, parades, games, sports, food fairs, and religious ceremonies, reinforcing Nagaland’s identity as a land of festivals.
