GOSSAIGAON: A ghastly road accident unfolded this afternoon at Gurufela on National Highway 27, under the Gossaigaon subdivision in Assam, leaving over ten individuals seriously injured. The collision involved a Bhutan passenger bus and a cement-laden mini truck, turning a routine journey into a scene of chaos and panic.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the Bhutan bus, bearing registration number BP-1 A0042, was en route from Bongaigaon towards Gossaigaon when the incident occurred. Reports suggest the bus reportedly rammed into the rear of a vehicle that had slowed down ahead of it. In a tragic turn of events, a cement-laden mini truck, with registration number WB 73 – 9301, was simultaneously approaching from the opposite direction. Amidst the confusion and a critical miscalculation, the Bhutan-registered bus veered out of control, smashing head-on into the mini truck.

The injured include two labourers from the cement truck and eight passengers from the bus, among them several students. All those injured were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance for urgent medical attention.

Local residents demonstrated commendable presence of mind, rushing to the aid of the victims, offering water and administering crucial first aid even before professional medical help arrived. However, a palpable sense of anger simmered among the gathered crowd due to the noticeable delay in the arrival of police personnel at the accident site.
