Huge Drug Haul in Tripura: Over 1.4 Lakh Yaba Tablets Seized, One Held

Agartala: In a significant breakthrough against the rampant drug trade, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Customs officials on Monday, July 21, led to the confiscation of over 1.4 lakh Yaba tablets in Tripura. The seized contraband, reportedly valued at a staggering Rs 14 crore in the international market, delivers a major jolt to the illicit drug trafficking networks operating in the region.

The massive haul was made after authorities intercepted an Ashok Leyland truck, bearing registration number TR‑01‑AR‑1754, based on concrete intelligence inputs. A thorough search of the vehicle unearthed the hidden cache of narcotics. The driver of the truck was immediately apprehended at the scene. Both the seized Yaba tablets and the arrested individual have since been handed over to the Customs Department for extensive interrogation and to initiate further legal proceedings as per the law. This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of security agencies to combat the drug menace plaguing the Northeastern states.
