Huge Heroin Haul Worth Rs 21 Crores Seized in Jorabat, Guwahati
Guwahati, 11th September: In a significant bust, law enforcement authorities in Jorabat, on the outskirts of Guwahati, seized a substantial consignment of Heroin valued at Rs. 21 crores during a late-night joint operation on Sunday.
Sources indicate that the City General Police Department (CGPD) team, in collaboration with Jorabat OP, carried out the operation when they intercepted a luxury vehicle bearing the registration number NL01 CA 1197. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, they discovered 198 soapboxes containing Heroin, weighing a total of 2.527 kilograms, concealed in a hidden compartment.
Simultaneously, the police apprehended three individuals suspected of drug peddling in connection with the seizure. These individuals have been identified as Amir Khan, Mohammed Yakub, and Mohammed Jamir.
The estimated market value of the seized Heroin is believed to be approximately Rs. 21 crores.
This substantial seizure underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the illicit drug trade in the region, safeguarding communities from the harmful impact of narcotics.
