IAF Aircraft Stuck on Leh Airport, Leads to Flight Cancellations
National Desk, 16 May: Operation at the Leh airport were closed after the runaway was stopped by the heavy-lifter C-17 Globemaster of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday as the plane reportedly experienced a technical issue.
There were flight delays and cancellations as a result of the non-operational runway. As the airport was declared closed for the day, a number of travellers were also stranded there.
According to reports, ten flights per day are operated to Leh by domestic airlines like IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Vistara.
Many irate customers vented their frustrations on Twitter after the planes were cancelled.
According to reports, the US-origin aircraft landed in Leh on Tuesday morning while performing a routine air repair mission. According to officials, the C-17 heavy-lifter’s technical problem is not major is being addressed and is expected to be operational by tomorrow.
