IAF Pilot killed in a road accident in Kaziranga

Guwahati: An Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot was killed in a road accident in Assam’s Kaziranga on Thursday night.

The deceased IAF pilot has been identified as Flight Lieutenant George Kuriyakarj.

According to reports, Kuriyakarj was riding his vehicle when a trailer truck collided head-on with his vehicle resulting in his death on spot.

Kuriyakarj was reportedly travelling from Tezpur to Jorhat in his vehicle last night when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, authorities have identified the damaged automobile involved in the crash as an MG Hector with plate numbers HP 38 G 0571.

local officers from the Kohora Police Outpost learned about the collision that occurred at Bosagaon on National Highway 37, while on usual early morning monitoring operations.

The IAF pilot who was travelling alone was killed on the spot in the crash, according to a police officer. His car collided head-on with a trailer truck approaching from the opposite way.

The trailer truck’s co-pilot is said to have suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash.

It may be noted that Flight Lieutenant Kuriyakarj, an IAF official was a pilot for the Air Force’s Sukhoi fighter aircraft.

It may be mentioned that police reached the site and sent the body for post-mortem reports.
