IIM Shillong’s Open Studio: A Fusion of Art and Management

Shillong: The recently concluded Open Studio at IIM Shillong brought together a diverse group of 16 artists from across India. The 10-day event, held from November 6 to 16, aimed to bridge the gap between creativity and management education.

The program, hosted by IIM Shillong’s literary and activities club, Zeitgeist, featured over 100 paintings created during the residency. It included a keynote session by Jeet Banerjee, Founder of Gameplan Sports Private Ltd., and a discussion by Dr. Paula Sengupta, Member BOG, on her artistic journey.

The theme for this year’s edition was “Misty Musings: The Shifting Landscape,” encouraging participants to explore the interplay between clarity and obscurity. Through workshops, discussions, and collaborative projects, the residency provided a platform for both artists and students to delve into the transformative power of art.

By fostering critical thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and innovation, the Artist Residency Programme aligns with the vision of India’s New Education Policy to equip students with 21st-century skills and perspectives.
