Iken Lollen from Arunachal Receives Prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award

Northeast Desk, 12th September: Iken Lollen, Assistant Matron at the district hospital in Seppa, East Kameng, has been honored with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award. The award was presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on September 11.

Lollen’s remarkable healthcare career spans nearly four decades. Starting as an Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) in 1985, she was promoted to Nursing Officer in 2005. Her contributions in child health, family planning, and immunization drives have been instrumental in improving healthcare in her district.

Alongside Lollen, another award recipient, Mankimi from Serchhip, Mizoram, was recognized for her dedication to nursing. Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma extended his congratulations, expressing pride in Mankimi’s achievement.

The National Florence Nightingale Awards, instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, honor exemplary nursing professionals across India. The 2024 ceremony recognized outstanding work in three categories: ANM, LHV (Lady Health Visitor), and Nurse, highlighting the essential role nurses play in India’s healthcare system.

The event, attended by Health Minister J.P. Nadda, celebrated the legacy of Florence Nightingale and encouraged further excellence in the nursing profession.
