Imam Murdered During Break-in In Guwahati’s Hatigaon
Guwahati: A person was killed in an apparent dacoit break-in in Hatigaon area of Guwahati on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at house number 42 in Hatigaon’s Friend’s Path.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the victim was slain during a break-in.
The deceased identified as Joinuddin Ahmed, a resident of Sipajhar in Darrang district of Assam. He was an imam, or Muslim prayer leader who also ran a food store in the area.
As per reports, Ahmed was working as a caretaker in one Abdul Haque’s residence. Haque, a PWD engineer is currently receiving treatment in Hyderabad.
Reportedly, the assailant allegedly entered the residence by cutting through the grill last night.
Police suspect that Ahmed was killed as a result of an attempted break-in gone awry.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the incident and they are on the search for the accused.
