IMD Forecasts Widespread Rainfall Across North Eastern States
Guwahati, 19th May: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for widespread rainfall across the North Eastern states in the coming days.
According to the IMD, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next five days.
The forecast follows the presence of a cyclonic circulation over North East Assam and its surrounding areas at lower tropospheric levels.
The IMD specified that this cyclonic circulation is situated over northeast Assam and its neighborhood, lying between 1.5 km and 2.1 km above mean sea level.
Residents of the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with local weather advisories to ensure safety during this period of inclement weather.
