IMD Issues Orange Alert for Heavy Rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh
Northeast Desk, 26th June: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Arunachal Pradesh, forecasting heavy rainfall until June 29. This alert signifies the likelihood of severe weather conditions that could potentially disrupt normal activities and necessitate precautionary measures.
The IMD’s forecast extends to other northeastern states as well, including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim, where heavy rainfall is expected to persist in the coming days.
Residents of Arunachal Pradesh are advised to be prepared for possible flooding, landslides, and waterlogging due to the anticipated rainfall. Authorities are urged to maintain high alertness of emergency services and ensure readiness to respond promptly to any incidents.
According to the IMD, “Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely in Arunachal Pradesh until June 29, with the potential for severe weather conditions affecting daily activities and infrastructure.”
In addition to Arunachal Pradesh, the IMD has issued red alerts for Sikkim and West Bengal, indicating expectations of very heavy rainfall. Orange alerts are also in effect for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The IMD’s advisories underscore the importance of vigilance and preparedness in the affected regions to mitigate the impact of severe weather conditions. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and follow directives from local authorities to ensure safety and minimize risks associated with the ongoing monsoon activity.
