IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Arunachal Pradesh, Predicts Heavy Rainfall Over Next Five Days
Northeast Desk, 7th October: The Meteorological Centre in Itanagar has issued a yellow alert for Arunachal Pradesh, warning of heavy rainfall over the next five days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant downpours from October 6 to October 10, cautioning that the deluge could disrupt daily life and impact local infrastructure.
The heavy rains are expected to hit isolated locations across Arunachal Pradesh, as part of a broader weather system affecting the entire Northeastern region. Neighboring states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are also expected to experience heavy rainfall, particularly on October 7.
According to the IMD’s daily bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely to affect Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya in the coming days. The weather disturbance is being driven by a persistent trough extending from Jharkhand to Manipur, along with a cyclonic circulation over northern Gangetic West Bengal.
The continuous rainfall has already begun affecting daily activities in East Siang and Lower Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, as well as in Assam’s Dhemaji district, raising concerns about potential flooding and infrastructure damage. Residents and authorities have been advised to remain vigilant as the situation unfolds over the next week.
