IMD Predicts Hot and Humid Weather for Assam; Issues Heat Safety Advisory
Guwahati, September 22: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast hot and humid conditions for Assam over the next 48 hours. Guwahati recorded a high temperature of 38.2°C on September 21, while other districts may experience a rise of 4-5°C above normal.
Key temperature predictions:
- West Assam: 36.0-38.0°C
- Central Assam: 35.0-37.0°C
- Northeast Assam: 36.0-38.0°C
- South Assam: 34.0-36.0°C
IMD Director Sanjay Shaw attributed the rise to clear skies and high solar insolation. The IMD issued a heat safety advisory, urging people to wear lightweight clothing, stay hydrated, avoid peak sun exposure, and take precautions during outdoor activities.
