IMD predicts rain in Assam and other NE states

Guwahati: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in Assam and other North-eastern states from January 31 to February 5.

A press release issued by the IMD on Saturday (January 29) stated, “Isolated to scattered light/moderate rainfall very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 31st January to 2nd February 2022.”

Furthermore, due to the interplay of mid-tropospheric south-westerlies related with the Western Disturbance and lower-level southeasterlies from the Bay of Bengal:

“Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated hailstorms likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim on 3rd & 4th February and over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 4th & 5th February 2022,” IMD said.
