IMFL Seized in Jiribam: Police Intercept Gypsy Vehicle in Ongoing Crackdown

Imphal: In a continued effort to curb the illegal transport of liquor, Manipur Police intercepted a white Gypsy vehicle bearing registration number MN 01AS 4499 at Jiribam Bazar on Wednesday, June 18.

The vehicle was driven by Thingbaijam Sanjitkumar Singh (42), a resident of Leingangpokpi under Jiribam Police Station in Jiribam District.

Upon thorough inspection, police discovered a consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) inside the vehicle. Following standard legal procedures, the seized liquor and the individual were handed over to the Excise Department for further action.

While the exact quantity of liquor recovered has not yet been disclosed, an investigation is currently underway to trace the origin and intended destination of the contraband.

The seizure highlights the vigilance of Manipur Police in tackling the illegal liquor trade, particularly in border districts like Jiribam, where enforcement efforts have been ramped up.
