Imphal Operation Nets KCP (PWG) Militant in Extortion Case

In a targeted operation conducted on February 27th, Manipur Police apprehended Mayanglambam Premkumar Singh, a 27-year-old active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG), in the Lamsang area of Imphal. The arrest followed credible intelligence regarding extortion activities being carried out by Singh against the public near a public toilet opposite Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak. Singh, a resident of Kachikhul Mamang Leikai in Imphal West District, was taken into custody.

The police recovered a mobile handset, a brown wallet containing Rs 240, an Aadhaar card, and a two-wheeler from Singh’s possession during the arrest. The operation was launched to curb the ongoing extortion threats faced by local residents in the Lamsang area, and further investigations are underway.

Simultaneously, security forces continued their extensive search and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable regions of the hill and valley districts. In separate operations conducted in the forest areas of Songpi and Pearsonmum villages within the Churachandpur district, significant recoveries were made. These included ex-caliber weapons with empty magazines, mortar rounds, wireless sets, bulletproof plates, chest posts/vests, helmets, and various types of ammunition. The operations reinforce the ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability in the region.
