In Mizoram, Heroin Worth Rs. 1.24 Crores Seized

Guwahati: A Myanmar national was among the two people detained after the Mizoram Special Narcotics Police Station squad seized 248.36 grammes of heroin worth more than Rupees 1.24 crores.

The Special Narcotic Authorities Station squad had obtained top-secret intelligence, according to the police. On the basis of that, it began an operation on Saturday in the Durtlang Leitan, Selesih Road area. According to the police, 19 soap cases containing 248.36 grammes of heroin, valued at Rs. 1.24 crore, were taken from the joint possession of a citizen of Myanmar and a resident of Manipur.

Both people were detained by the police team. They were identified as Thangzamuana, 30, from New Lamka, Churachandpur in Manipur and Lianlamkho, 26, a citizen of Myanmar, from Darkhai, Tonzang.

According to the police, a case has been opened under sections 14 of the Foreigners Act and 21(b) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The case is being investigated further.
