Inauguration of 108th Indian Science Congress By PM Modi
Guwahati: The 108th Indian Science Congress was virtually started on Tuesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) held the event at its Amravati Road Campus. “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment” is the event’s topic. The general public is welcome to attend the discussions and displays.
Inaugurating the event, PM Modi said, “Science should make India Atmanirbhar. The efforts of Science can bear fruit only when they go from labs to land. With 2023 being declared as the International Year of Millets, India’s millets and their use should be further improved with the use of science.”
There are 14 sections of the Congress’ technical sessions. There will be concurrent seminars held at various university locations. In addition to these sessions, there will be a section on Science and Society as well as a Women’s Science Congress, Farmers’ Science Congress, Children’s Science Congress and a Tribal Meet.
“The plenary sessions will feature Nobel Laureates, leading Indian and foreign researchers, experts and technocrats from a wide variety of fields, including space, defence, IT and medical research,” the ministry said.
The event’s “Pride of India” mega-expo is a major draw. The exhibition which brings together and presents hundreds of fresh ideas, technologies and products across the whole canvas of science will highlight notable advancements, key accomplishments, and the substantial contributions mostly of Indian Science and Technology to society.
