India and Cyprus Explore Northeast Opportunities in Guwahati Dialogue

Guwahati: Guwahati witnessed a significant diplomatic engagement yesterday as the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), North East India Region, played host to His Excellency Mr. Manish, the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cyprus.

The exclusive interactive session, aptly named “Exploring Synergies: Strengthening India–Cyprus Bilateral Relations with a Focus on Northeast India,” brought together key stakeholders to chart a course for enhanced collaboration.

The interactive forum buzzed with discussions as representatives from various ICC committees, spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, horticulture, and food processing, actively participated.

The focus remained sharply on identifying and exploring tangible avenues for business collaboration with the Mediterranean nation of Cyprus, with a keen eye on the unique potential of the North-eastern states of India.

High Commissioner Manish eloquently presented Cyprus’s strategic importance within the European Union, painting a picture of promising opportunities for Indian engagement. He specifically underscored sectors such as burgeoning start-ups, innovative ventures, the robust agribusiness sector, the growing food processing industry, and the allure of ecotourism – all areas that align seamlessly with the inherent strengths and developmental ambitions of Northeast India.

The Indian Chamber of Commerce conveyed its profound appreciation for the deepening ties between India and Cyprus, particularly within the spheres of trade and investment.

Furthermore, the Chamber pledged its unwavering commitment to collaborate closely with the High Commissioner’s office to transform the fruitful dialogue into tangible and impactful results on the ground.
