India & Bangladesh Sign 2 MoUs To Strengthen Railway Cooperation
Guwahati: India and Bangladesh on Tuesday signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU) to strengthen their bilateral intergovernmental railroad cooperation between the two countries.
This follows the multi-sectoral scoping delegation from Indian Railways’ visit to Bangladesh in April of this year and the recent meeting between the railway ministers of India and Bangladesh on June 1, 2022.
The MoUs were signed and exchanged during Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina’s four-day visit of India.
“Training of Bangladesh Railway Employees in the Training Institute of Indian Railways” and “Collaboration in IT Systems such as FOIS and other IT applications for Bangladesh Railway” are among the two MoUs that were signed.
The MoU’s objectives are to establish a framework for collaboration and to make it easier for Bangladesh Railway staff to get training at Indian institutes of Indian Railways, including field trips.
This will involve planning, organising, and running seminars, workshops, and training sessions in the classroom and on the job.
Additionally, Indian Railways will cooperate with representatives of the Bangladeshi government’s Ministry of Railways regarding the visit as well as with regards to setting up and enhancing training facilities as well as educational requirements in Bangladesh.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) relating to collaborative IT systems will be for all computerization components including train inquiry system, freight operations and control office, passenger ticketing, digitization of asset management, HR and Finance infrastructure in Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be provided with IT solutions by the Indian Ministry of Railways through the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS).
