India beats China to become member of UN’s ECOSOC body

TS Tirumurti, the permanent representative of India to the United Nations, said that India has been elected as a member of the United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women (UNCSW), which is a body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for four years from 2021 to 2025.

India and Afghanistan beat China in the elections to the United Nation’s Commission on Status of Women Economic, out of the two members to be elected from the Asia-Pacific states, India secured 38 of the 54 ballots. on the other hand Afghanistan secured 39 ballots. China secured 27, failing to even cross the halfway mark.
