India Celebrates 78th Independence Day: PM Modi Addresses Nation from Red Fort

National Desk, 15th August: India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day with tremendous enthusiasm, highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the nation from the historic Red Fort. This marks the 11th time PM Modi has delivered an Independence Day speech from this iconic venue, underscoring his continued leadership.

The celebrations began with Prime Minister Modi hoisting the National Flag, followed by a magnificent aerial display that added to the grandeur of the event. Two Advanced Light Helicopters Dhruv, operated by the Indian Air Force and flown in the Line Astern Formation, showered flower petals over the venue. Wing Commander Amber Agarwal and Wing Commander Rahul Nainwal led the formation, enhancing the ceremonial atmosphere.

After the flag hoisting, the Prime Minister received a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ while the National Anthem played, a moment led by the Punjab Regiment Military Band. The band, consisting of one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and 25 Other Ranks, was directed by Subedar Major Rajinder Singh, capturing the pride and honor of the occasion.

Prior to his arrival at the Red Fort, PM Modi extended his Independence Day greetings to the nation via a post on his social media platform, X. “Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!” he wrote, setting a tone of patriotism and unity.

Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane. Defence Secretary Aramane introduced PM Modi to the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Delhi Area, Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar.

The Prime Minister was then conducted to the Saluting Base, where a combined Guard of Honour, comprising one officer and 24 personnel each from the Army, Air Force, and Delhi Police, presented a general salute. PM Modi’s inspection of the Guard of Honour officially commenced the day’s ceremonies.

As the nation reflects on 78 years of independence, the events at the Red Fort serve as a poignant reminder of India’s journey, its achievements, and the enduring spirit of its people.
