India: PM to interact CMs over Covid-19 situation
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with chief ministers on Thursday to discuss the situation of Covid-19 in the country and the surge of the new Covid variant Omicron.
According to reports, PM will interact with the chief ministers via video conferencing at around 4.30 pm.
The meeting is scheduled to will take place following the continuous increase of Covid cases in India. The country approaches 250,000 daily infections in the new Covid wave, which is mostly driven by the extremely contagious Omicron form. Authorities have imposed further restrictions in response to the sudden rise in Covid-19 cases, including a night curfew and a ban on large gatherings.
It may be mentioned that last week, the prime minister chaired a high-level meeting to examine the country’s Covid-19 situation, the healthcare system’s ongoing readiness, the immunization campaign’s status, and the Omicron variant’s public health implications.
According to the prime minister’s office, the health secretary presented a detailed presentation on the global spike in Covid cases during the meeting.
