India Records 11,793 Fresh Infections of COVID-19 in 24 Hours

Guwahati: India recorded an increase of more than 11,000 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday bringing the total number of active cases to 96,700, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Data updated by the ministry at 8 am showed that a total of 11,793 coronavirus cases were reported in a space of 24 hours, bringing the overall infection tally to 86.14 cr, while 4,73,717 tests were performed in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the weekly positivity rate was 3.36 percent and the daily positivity rate was 2.49 percent.

There have been up to 9,486 recoveries in the past day, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,27,97,092 instances.

The government reports that as of today, 197.31 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered throughout the nation.

The number of COVID-19 infections in India had surpassed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, the 30-lakh mark on August 23, the 40-lakh mark on September 5, the 50-lakh mark on September 16, the 60-lakh mark on September 28, the 70-lakh mark on October 11, the 80-lakh mark on October 29, the 90-lakh mark on November 20, and the one crore mark on December 19, 2020.

The country crossed the grim milestones of two crore cases on May 4, 2021, three crore on June 23, 2021 and four crore on January 25 this year.

The administration is dedicated to stepping up and broadening the COVID-19 vaccination programme nationwide.

The availability of more vaccination’s early notification of vaccine availability to States and UTs for improved planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain have all increased the vaccination campaign.

More than 193.53 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through government (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. While the States and UTs still have about 11.81 billion balance and unused vaccination doses ready for administration.
