India Slams China’s Latest Attempt to Rename Arunachal Pradesh Locations

New Delhi – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a forceful condemnation of China’s persistent efforts to assign new names to locations within the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a strongly worded statement released earlier today, the MEA unequivocally rejected these attempts, asserting that such actions would not alter the fundamental reality of Arunachal Pradesh’s status as an integral and inalienable part of India.

The ministry emphasized that these “vain and preposterous attempts” to rename Indian territories are unacceptable and contradict the established facts.

This latest denouncement comes in response to China’s continued practice of issuing what it terms “standardised” names for various places in Arunachal Pradesh.

Beijing lays claim to the state, referring to it as “South Tibet,” a claim that has consistently been and continues to be vehemently refuted by India. The MEA’s statement underscores the unwavering stance of the Indian government in the face of these repeated attempts to assert territorial claims through nomenclature.

Echoing the national sentiment, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu had earlier this year taken to social media to voice his strong disapproval of China’s actions. Describing it as “another gimmick from China,” Chief Minister Khandu, a proud citizen and native of the state, firmly condemned the act of naming places within Arunachal Pradesh, reiterating its long-standing and undisputed status as an integral part of India. His remarks highlighted the deep sense of belonging and national pride felt by the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Adding to the chorus of rejection, MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had previously reiterated India’s firm opposition to China’s renaming attempts. He asserted that these “senseless attempts” would not change the established reality that Arunachal Pradesh “is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India.”

The consistent and resolute stance from both the central government and the state leadership underscores India’s unified position in defending its territorial integrity and sovereignty against China’s claims.
