India suspends all flights to UK over new coronavirus strain
The Government of India has banned all flights from United Kingdom after a new strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was discovered in the UK. Strict lockdown has been also implemented in the United Kingdom after the new strain was discovered in the country.
The UK government said the highly contagious infection was ‘out of control’ which has led to many countries including France, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Austria, banning flights to and from the country.
The ministry of Civil Aviation said “Considering the prevailing situation in the UK, the Government of India has decided that all flights originating from the UK to India will be suspended till 31st December 2020 (23.59 hours).” However the suspension of flights will come into effect from 23:59 hours on December 22, 2020.
