India: Union Cabinet Approves Hoisting FIFA U-17 WC
Guwahati: The Federation International De Football Association (FIFA) under 17 Women’s World Cup 2022 will be held in India, according to a decision made by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the cabinet and gave his approval for the signing of the guarantees to raise FIFA in India.
The official press release by the cabinet reads, “The FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup is a prestigious event and would be held for the first time in India. It would encourage more youngsters to participate in sports and help develop the sport of football in India. The event will not only promote football as sport of choice among Indian girls, but is also poised to leave a lasting legacy that will facilitate girls and women in the country to embrace football and sports in general.”
India will host the FIFA World Cup from October 11 to October 30.
It should be noted that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) was initially suspended by FIFA for improper third-party interference. However, they later lifted the suspension after learning that the committee of administrators’ mandate, which had been established to take over the AIFF Executive Committee’s authority, had been terminated and that the AIFF administration had reclaimed complete control over the organization’s day-to-day operations.
