Indian Army and Dibrugarh Police Detain Woman with Suspected Links to Banned Outfit ULFA-I
Guwahati, 23rd July: A woman from Dibrugarh University was detained on Sunday in a joint operation by the Indian Army and Dibrugarh police due to her claimed dubious ties to the outlawed armed insurgent group United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).
The detainee, identified as Pushpanjali Gogoi, was taken into custody from the Ranggarh Auditorium located within the University premises. During the operation, the police discovered a significant sum of Rs 3 lakh in cash in her possession.
Pushpanjali Gogoi hails from the Laipuli locality in Assam’s Tinsukia district and is reported to be associated with a marketing firm called MI Lifestyle. However, both the security forces and the police have not revealed additional information about her alleged links.
Despite her detention, Pushpanjali Gogoi denies any affiliation with the proscribed faction. The authorities are conducting thorough investigations to ascertain the nature of her purported involvement with ULFA-I.
