Indian Army Averts Disaster by Defusing Three IEDs in Manipur

Northeast Desk, 29th September: In a critical operation, Indian Army personnel successfully defused three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Imphal East district, Manipur, on September 28, 2024. The timely intervention has averted a potential disaster in a sensitive region.

The IEDs, which collectively weighed 42.5 kilograms, were uncovered during a routine patrol by the Spear Corps in the foothills of the Maphital ridge. Strategically planted along the Tumukhong and Hungdum Tangkhul road, these devices posed a significant threat to the local population, particularly near the Karong bridge—a crucial route for farmers, cattle grazers, and residents of the Maphou Dam area.

The operation lasted eight hours and involved a meticulous search to ensure that no additional explosives were hidden in the vicinity. The successful neutralization of the IEDs has significantly improved security and safety in the region, preventing potential loss of life and property.

Local authorities and community members expressed gratitude for the army’s swift action, which has helped restore a sense of security in the area. The Indian Army remains committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region, ensuring that local residents can carry out their daily activities without fear of violence or disruption.
