Indian Army Partners with Sikkim-Based University to Offer Educational and Skilling Opportunities to Army Families

Northeast Desk, 6th June: The Indian Army has entered into a partnership with Medhavi Skills University (MSU) in Sikkim to provide educational and skilling opportunities to the families of Army personnel. The collaboration aims to reserve seats and offer fee concessions in MSU’s skill-based academic programs for the wards and spouses of serving, deceased, and retired Army personnel.

An official memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at a ceremony held in South Block, with Maj Gen Ravindra Singh representing the Indian Army and Kuldip Sarma, co-founder and pro-chancellor of MSU, present. The Adjutant General of the Indian Army, Lt Gen C B Ponnappa, also attended the event.

  • Reserved Seats: MSU will earmark seats in its undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs for the beneficiaries.
  • Fee Concessions: Special concessions on tuition and hostel accommodation fees will be provided, with additional discounts based on scores in national entrance examinations.

Maj Gen Ravindra Singh emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with Medhavi Skills University is a commendable step towards empowering the families of our Army personnel. It is our duty to support the educational and professional aspirations of the families who sacrifice so much for the nation’s security.”

Kuldip Sarma expressed MSU’s commitment to the initiative, noting, “MSU views the defence forces as a significant partner in its journey of upskilling India. We are dedicated to enhancing the learning, development, and employability for the families of those who serve our nation so bravely. This initiative stands as a testament to our unwavering support for India’s guardians and their families.”

This partnership marks the first time a skills university in India has collaborated with the Indian Army. The initiative is aimed at improving the educational and professional prospects of the families of Army personnel, ensuring they have access to quality education and skill development opportunities.

The Indian Army and MSU believe this initiative will play a crucial role in supporting the families of those who dedicate their lives to the nation’s security, providing them with valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.
