Indian Army’s Black Cat Division Launches Football Competition in Sikkim

Northeast Desk, 16th February: In a significant move to foster youth development, the Indian Army’s Black Cat Division, under the leadership of Brigadier Kunal Mukherjee, initiated a 17-football competition as part of Operation Sadbhavna in Sikkim.

Brigadier Mukherjee emphasized the initiative’s continuity, stating that it marks the beginning of a sustained partnership between the Indian Army and the community for long-term progress.

The 12-day competition features seven teams competing for the coveted trophy, with a strong emphasis on motivating students to excel in sports and potentially represent Sikkim in national-level competitions.

Coordinated by the Black Cat Division, the artillery regiment under 341 Field Regiment is spearheading the organization of the tournament. Brigadier Mukherjee expressed confidence that the event would encourage parental involvement in sports, recognizing its integral role in overall development.

Looking ahead, Brigadier Mukherjee announced upcoming projects focused on enhancing infrastructure and community welfare in Sikkim. Scheduled inaugurations include two water management projects and a community development hall in Changu, with additional initiatives planned for Forward Villages in March.
